Cupping Notes: Milk Chocolate, Citrus, Almond
Description: This Regional Plus selection comes from our export partner, Cofniet, made up of coffees from Popayán, located in the department of Cauca at 1,700MASL. This region’s topography is perfect to grow exceptional coffee. The area, called Meseta de Popayan, is sheltered by the Andes mountain range which helps stabilize the climate at the high elevation. The result is a balanced cup profile with delicate and sweet characteristics.
Approximately 65 growers contribute to this program which encourages farmers to focus on quality. This focus is incentivized through premiums paid for cup quality, access to agronomists, and learning to assess cup quality through cupping their own coffees, something that not many farmers in rural areas have access to.
This coffee produces a clean, straight-forward cup profile with notes of Milk Chocolate, Citrus, and Almond.
