La Paz is a region with a long quality coffee trajectory that stands out for its unique quality, high elevations and ideal weather. Producers from La Paz have won first paces at Cup of Excellence competitions in 2014, 2016, and 2018. Additionally, La Paz is the only region in Honduras with a Denomination of Origin: Do Cafe Marcala, which is the first DO registered in Honduras and Central America!
The region has a tropical climate with two very maked stations; a dry season from January to April and a rainy season from May to October. Cloud forests and pine forests are distributed throughout the region mixed with other trees such as oak and cedar.
It is said that the people of La Paz have coffee in their blood. Most inhabitants have childhood memories of the aroma of a fresh cup of coffee and look forward to “the season” in which coffee harvesting and processing begins.
