Description: Mr. Tamrat Alemayehu processes this coffee. He was born and raised in Yirgacheffe. The washing station is named after him, Tamrat Alemayehu washing station.

In 2019, the Ethiopian Coffee and Tea authority implemented a new regulation that washing stations owners or single farm producers can sell their coffee directly to the buyers without going through the Commodity exchange system (ECX) . It opens up more direct-trade opportunities and we’re able to buy this beautiful coffee.

Ethipioan heirloom beans at their best!

I'm a manual pan roaster meaning that I am part of the whole roasting process one stir at a time (hotplate, covered/vented non stick saucepan, spatula). These heirloom beans have a really beautiful, almost floral-like smell when roasting that is unique to green coffee (every variety has a different, early roasting smell but these beans are truly special). If you haven't experienced the full beginning to end roast cycle, try going manual sometime for a really fun and rewarding treat (albeit don't plan on going anywhere for about 90 minutes). Regardless of how you roast these beans, I think you will find these some of the best of the Ethiopian heirloom beans around. Fresh crop, roasts pretty evenly/quickly and that special heirloom taste profile reward at the end- wow!
