Description: Las Capucas is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Honduras. Cooperative goals focus on improving the living conditions of its members and their families. Assistance is provided to improve coffee production, quality, financial management, and marketing. Women have a large role in the cooperative - they make up the majority of members of the General Assembly and manage the use of the Fair Trade premiums. The co-op offers a local health center available to members and the greater Capucas community. In addition to coffee farming, cooperative members have diversified their incomes and the farm ecosystem by raising bees and maintaining a honey production program.
The co-op has over 900 members from the municipalities of San Pedro and Corquin in Copán. Average production last year during the 2020-2021 crop year was 81,112 quintals in dry parchment, of which 12,246 were certified.
