Description: Bossa Nova is made up of coffees from two farms in the Garça region of Brazil, Fazenda Santa Maria and Fazenda Pingo D’Agua. Capricornio, our export partner for this lot, makes a point to focus on not only coffee quality, but also long term sustainability through paying quality premiums, and investing in the regions and farms they work with. Their main sustainability project, “Four Seasons”, has a goal of investing in agronomy projects to assist farmers to further improve their quality and production, ensuring them long term success. The areas of focus for Four Seasons Project are “new cultivation techniques, coffee plant care, soil management, agricultural practices, residuals disposer and water conservation”. Capricornio shares that complying with high standards in ecological and economic practices is the only way to guarantee the availability of specialty coffees over the long term.
Bossa Nova is the result of Capricornio’s dedication to specialty coffees from the São Paolo State in Southern Brazil. After handpicking ripe cherry, this lot was sun dried on African beds. These methods are ideal for green coffee quality and shelf stability, but not often done in Brazil, so we’re happy to see these extra efforts taken at Capricornio. We think this lot is a great representation of a traditional Brazilian profile, perfect for blending, or highlighting on it’s own. We get notes of Almond, Dates, and Milk Chocolate.
