Description: This naturally processed coffee comes from the Cerrado Mineiro region of Brazil, where 90% of the arabica coffees are processed as naturals. This region in the country has developed one of the most recognizable cup profiles, with lots of body and sweetness. A cup profile that can serve as a great base for espresso blends, and can make a great single origin for those looking for a basic coffee that tastes like, well, “coffee”. Coffees in Brazil are described by their physical characteristics. This one is an NY 2 which stands for “New York 2”, referring to the maximum number of defects allowed, it’s the highest grade recognized by the New York Stock Exchange. The lot is also sorted by screen size and is among the largest Brazilian size grades at 17/18.
As hard as it’s been to get and keep Brazilian coffee in our warehouse this year, we’re happy for anything to arrive, not to mention how much we like this one. We get notes of Dark Chocolate, Hazelnut, and Vanilla. Perfect for an espresso base, or a straightforward Brazilian single origin.
