Description: Don Felix is a single farm offering from Felix Eli Porras Zapata whose farm sits high up in the mountains of Antioquia in a town known as Jerico. The area is largely religious, following the traditions of catholicism, and coffee traditions have become something of a religion of it’s own as well. The farm, El Porral, was started in 1973, and has been handed down to Felix who owns and operates it alongside his wife. The husband and wife duo are able to maintain the farm by themselves throughout the year, and they bring on ~15 temporary employees during harvest season to help with hand picking from their 25,000 coffee trees, and processing. After coffee is harvested, it’s fermented for 36 hours before being sun dried.
The preship and arrival cupped identical - always a good sign - with notes of sweet caramel and milk chocolate, and the fruity acidity of tangerine and lime. We’re a little bummed about how small this lot is, but if you see it before it’s gone, don’t worry, we plan on making Don Felix a habit.
