Description: Year after year, Felix Eli Porras Zapata, who owns El Porral, produces some of our favorite washed Colombians. Located in Jerico, Antioquia, an area that is largely religious, following the traditions of catholicism, coffee traditions have become something of a religion of it’s own. The farm was started in 1973, and has been handed down to Felix who owns and operates it alongside his wife. The husband and wife duo are able to maintain the farm by themselves throughout the year, and they bring on ~15 temporary employees during harvest season to help with hand picking from their 25,000 coffee trees, and processing. After coffee is harvested, it’s fermented for 36 hours before being sun dried.
This lot always has notes of bright citrus and lots of sweetness. This year we’re getting notes of Plum, Sweet Lemon, and Nougat.
