Description: We’re excited to introduce this washed cooperative lot from the Urrao, Antioquia. Antioquia is among our favorite regions for traditional washed coffees in Colombia, and we are stoked with how this coffee arrived. Montebello is the result of a couple of years that we had been trying to source coffee from a particular producing group with no success as they we just maxed out on volume capabilities. This year we were able to work directly with one of the coffee suppliers who contribute that group, San Martin Origin.

The coffees that make up Montebello are harvested in March/April as coffee reaches peak ripeness at the very high elevation of the region. This elevation is a big contributor to the vibrant, distinct acidity in this beautiful washed lot. Once harvested, coffee is fermented for 36 hours before being washed twice to remove all mucilage. The coffee is then transferred to patios where it dries in open air, under sunlight to ideal moisture content (arriving at 11.4%).

We’re always excited to share relationship coffees with roasters, and especially excited when it’s a new relationship, so we hope you get as excited about this coffee as we are.
