Description: This coffee comes from the Tero Washing Station in the Tero kebele (community) in Shakiso, Guji. Most of the trees in this region are relatively young and are 74410 & 74412 varieties. These two varieties perform very well at these high elevations in the Guji region with high quality cup profile, and disease resistance. Farmers in Shakiso typically have more farm land than in other regions, with an average of 4 hectares (compared to the typical of about 1 hectare). And Tero received coffee from 307 farmers in the 2024 season. The Guji region produces some of, if not the, best coffee in Ethiopia in our opinion. It doesn’t have quite the name recognition of Yirgacheffe, but the cups speak for themselves. The region has a long history as an untouched forest which lends to its very fertile soil, and combined with it’s high altitudes, Shakiso produces coveted cup quality. The Tero station was assigned to focus only on naturals to specialize the efforts of the station manager and team.
