Description: Ethiopia, and specifcally Yirgacheffe is famously believed to be the birthplace of arabica coffee. It’s recognized as one of the best locations on the planet to grow specialty grade coffee’s, both washed and natural.
Most coffees grown in Yirgacheffe are local landrace (or, heirloom), farmed using traditional intercropping methods. Doing this maximizes farm land for smallholders. Most farms are also organic by nature of these traditional methods which does not include the use of pesticides or adding fertilizers.
The coffees from Chelelektu never disappoint, they’ve been perfecting high scoring coffee since 2010, and maintain a respected name in Ethiopian coffee production still. Naturals are dried on average for 21 days on raised beds, and then sorted and dry milled on state of the art equipment in Addis Ababa.
This lot is a great example of the flavor profile we’ve come to love in this region of Yirgacheffe with bright notes of Cherry and Lemonade, with delicate notes of Black Tea and Florals.
