Description: This coffee comes to us from the Abiyot Ageze washing station in the Aricha kebele (community), in Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Coffee from this region is so complex, and so tasty, you'd think that high scoring coffee was it's birthright... and you wouldn't be wrong.
Ethiopia wears the title of "birthplace of coffee" and Abiyot Ageze does it justice. Mr Ageze built the station in 2007 and has developed incredible standards, giving the ±650 contributing farming families and mill workers something to be proud of, and all of us something wonderful to roast and brew.
The coffees in Aricha are grown at very high elevations, making them dense and full of tasty nutrients. This lot was fermented for 60 hours, and dried slowly (4-6 weeks) on raised beds making the green coffee very shelf stable, so it'll taste great until we can all get our hands on the next harvest.
