Description: This lot gets it’s name from the mother language of the Tzeltales, a group of indigenous people descended from the Maya. Tecolotl, translates to owl, a creature thought to act as a spirit guide in Mexican folk traditions. The coffee itself is shade-grown, under native trees, following sustainable practices to preserve the surrounding ecosystem. The region is as magical as the origins of this coffee’s name. Los Altos is a mountainous region bordering the Lacondona, the largest jungle in Mexico, running from Chiapas, through Honduras, and into the Yucatan Peninsula.
The producers who contributed to this lot are part of the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) Bloom, an initiative to ensure long-term viability of green coffee supplies and provide smallholder farmers with the opportunities and resources they need to run their farms at full potential and enter pathways out of poverty.
