Description: 

Las Capucas is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Honduras, made up of 900 producers from the municipalities of San Pedro and Corquin, in Copán. Cooperative goals focus on improving the living conditions of its members and their families. Assistance is provided to improve coffee production, quality, financial management, and marketing. Women have a large role in the cooperative - they make up the majority of members of the General Assembly and manage the use of the Fair Trade premiums. The co-op offers a local health center available to members and the greater Capucas community. In addition to coffee farming, cooperative members have diversified their incomes and the farm ecosystem by raising bees and maintaining a honey production program.
