Description: Banko Gotiti is a kebele (neighborhood) that is coffee royalty, and is surrounded by more of the same; bordered by Chelchele and Dimtu Hambella. Our purchasing cuppings are always done blind, so we have no clue what we’re tasting, and Banko Gotiti, without fail, finds itself in the top cup scores. This year we brought in two coffees from Banko Gotiti from two different washing stations, both purchased from blind cupping tables. This station serves 167 smallholder farmers who each farm about 2 hectares on average. This area produces mostly indigenous heirloom varieties as they seem to produce the best yields and cup qualities that the region is known for with citric acidity, tea-like cups. Gotiti has 88 drying beds and produces mostly washed coffees that is beloved by green buyers, they’ve even received numerous awards from the Ernesto Illy International Coffee Awards. The station utilizes running water for washing and other processing needs which has been tested for PH and TDS ensuring its purity. We’re big fans of this Yirgacheffe kebele, and this coffee shines a light on why, with notes of Sprite™, Sugarcane, and Oolong Tea.
