Description: Werka Sakaro is located just a handful of miles east of Gedeb City in Yirgacheffe. The station receives cherries from 194 smallholder farmers from their community who each farm 2.5 hectares on average. Coffee from this station is very desirable to green buyers worldwide, and the station often sells out of coffee early in the season. Farmers in the area have had access to valuable training and education through USAID training on maximizing production and cherry quality.
The coffee was dried for roughly 2 weeks after 24-48 of wet fermentation. The washing station utilizes water filters so that they can reuse water as much as possible, all the while measuring TDS and PH to ensure its purity. We love that this station is able to successfully focus efforts on both coffee quality as well as sustainability. In the cup, this coffee is vibrant and refined with bright notes of fresh fruits and a delicate linger of a white tea.
