Bodhi Beginnings

When Steve Sims decided to travel to Sumatra and purchase his first container of coffee, Bodhi Leaf's journey to the perfect bean had begun. He sold his first bag in April 2009 and since then, Bodhi Leaf has evolved while remaining dedicated to providing exceptional coffees, economical prices, and excellent customer service.

Commercial Green

Shortly after importing Bodhi Leaf's first container, Steve began to form commercial coffee partnerships. At that time, Steve was hand delivering orders out of a pick up truck to local Southern California roasters. Since then, Bodhi Leaf has developed relationships with commercial roasters of all sizes throughout North America. The commercial green coffee program continues to grow year after year bringing the total green coffee imported to over five million pounds.

Home Roaster's Green

After selling to commercial roasters for a while, Steve decided to offer green coffee by the pound to home roasters. This change was welcomed by hobbyists who now had the opportunity to try micro-lots and other unique coffees without having to purchase the full bag. Today, Bodhi Leaf offers hundreds of coffees each year for purchase by the single pound and looks forward to providing more education tools and courses for home roasters in the near future.

Roasted Coffee

Steve purchased his first coffee roaster in 2011 and began providing small amounts of roasted coffee to friends and local businesses. Today, Bodhi Leaf roasts up to 5,000 lbs of coffee each week! Bodhi Leaf Roastery provides coffee to cafes, restaurants, breweries, churches, offices, and online monthly subscribers. Our roasting team is driven by a passion to deliver fresh, consistent and delicious coffees day after day.

Coffee Bars

Bodhi Leaf moved to Orange in 2015 after realizing we had outgrown our current warehouse in Placentia. The location Steve found on Katella Avenue provided a new opportunity for Bodhi Leaf to extend our reach to a new retail market. Our first coffee bar quickly gained a following for its commitment to providing a quality cafe experience for each customer. Since then, Bodhi Leaf has opened an additional five coffee bar locations with another two more opening in 2019.
