Description: Mandheling coffees are named after the Mandailing people, an ethnic group from the Batak area of Sumatra, generally found in the North Province. This specific lot was grown in the mountains of Medan, a city in the North East of the island. Made up of Ateng, Garundang, and Catimor varieties, this lot was wet-hulled, and then completely sun dried. Screen size sorting was done after the coffee was hauled to remove any beans smaller than screen size 14. This lot is “double picked”, which is a classification within grade 1 coffees from Sumatra.
This coffee arrived to our warehouse tasting like a traditional Sumatra coffee, with spiced notes, and pleasant dark chocolate and roasted hazelnut.
