Description: Among coffee buyers and roasters, Ethiopia is often the answer to “what’s your favorite country of origin?” The country is the birthplace of green coffee and is often the first origin that opens coffee drinkers eyes to the possibilities of flavors in specialty coffee. Within Ethiopia, there’s a number of famous growing regions, and this lot comes from the king of these, Yirgacheffe. The Woreda (district) where this coffee was grown and processed, Kochere, often produces some of the highest scoring coffees in Yirgacheffe. Farmers here grow at very high elevation on small plots of land that are essentially backyard farms and then deliver cherries to the Bonde Washing Station which is owned and overseen by Israel Degefa. Israel is a leader in the world of coffee, his focus on promoting Ethiopian Coffee quality throughout the world earned him the Person Of The Year award at the 2025 African Leadership Awards. “Traditional” is often a phrase that communicates a coffee tastes like “normal coffee” with nutty and chocolatey notes, but that is not the case with Ethiopian Coffee not to mention this lot grown at 2100masl in one of the best growing regions in the world. We love the delicate tea-like character along with the sweet citrusy notes that are typical for this region of Ethiopia.
