Description: The Arsosala Washing Station was built in 2015 to serve the Arsosala village, and some surrounding villages in the Uraga woreda of Guji. This station processes coffee for about 1,200 producers who farm under 1 hectare on average. The Guji Zone has been growing in popularity amongst specialty coffee importers and roasters because of it’s coffee quality. The region has extremely high elevation farms, where conditions are ideal for growing and processing incredible coffee. The natural processing for this lot starts with floating the cherries to sort out low density cherries, and the dense cherries are then laid out in a single layer and turned every 2 hours for the first few days to ensure even drying. After those first days, the coffee finishes drying for a total of 15-20 days, depending on weather conditions. Once fully dried, the coffee is stored for 5-8 days to rest, and is then hulled and bagged for export.
Grade 3 coffees are always great options for blending into espresso to add pizzaz. But this one, along with the Adado Grade 3 from Yirgacheffe that just arrived to Bodhi cup like grade 1’s. Arsosala is vibrant and dynamic, with fruity notes of Concord Grape, Pear, and a finish of Coconut and Chocolate Brownie.
